How to get rid of weed smell

Whether you’re trying to get high on the low or simply want to keep your sessions pleasant, the lingering smell of weed can often be unwelcome.

But there’s good news:by following these tips, you can keep your ritual pleasant & private.

Follow your session with an odor eliminator spray that’s safe for skin and clothes.

When you smoke, the aromatic terpenes and cannabinoids go airborne and can cling to different surfaces, including skin, hair, and linens.

This odor can stick around spaces and even follow you out the door.

The best way to freshen up (and cover your tracks) is to use an odor eliminator spray that’s safe for skin and linens.

The reality is that old-school air fresheners only seem to mask the odor with stuffy artificial fragrances — not to mention the iffy ingredients and polluting impact of aerosols.

Instead, look for sprays that actually deodorize and are safe to spray on your furniture, clothes, hair, etc.

At Cousin May’s, we’ve reinvented the air freshener just for this! Our sprays are proven effective against smoke odor, human safe, and delicately scented.

Stash your flower in airtight containers.

Not only can storing your cannabis in airtight containers help preserve its quality, it can also seal in the odor that would otherwise leak out.

Mason jars are my usual go-to for storing flower, though there are many storage containers online.

Smoke near an open window and use a fan to pull the smoke outside.

Smoking near an open window is common sense, but are you using a fan to pull the smoke outside?

Whether it’s a big box fan or a cute tabletop fan, you can use it as an “exhaust fan” by directing it’s airflow outside.

Doing so will pull the smoke and odor from inside and direct it out the window.

Avoid skunky strains.

Cannabis strains have unique profiles due to the combination of over 400 different types of terpenes.

It’s believed that the presence of these terpenes can contribute to varying psychoactive effects.

But, did you know that they can also produce unique fragrances and notes?

A general rule of thumb is that sativa usually has a sweeter, mellower aroma than indica.

Another good tip is to consult a budtender for their expertise.

Try out a homemade sploof

A dorm-room essential and staple of stoner DIYs, sploofs are a great way to cover up your cannabis use.

They work by filtering exhaled odor and smoke through a dryer sheet.

While they can definitely help, the extent of their helpfulness is… questionable.

In fact, it primarily depends on the material, ionization, and texture of the dryer sheet in question.

All this to say, sploofs work better in theory than in practice.

If you smoke in your car, use an upholstery cleaner and steam the air vents.

We’ve got a whole post that can help you get the smell of weed out of your car, but let me sum it up here for ya!

  • You can freshen up your air vents with a steamer or a deodorizing spray.
  • You can easily and affordably replace the cabin air filters — it’s typically a 5 minute, $15 job.
  • You can use a linen-safe deodorizing spray or fabric cleaner on the upholstery.

Conclusion

You can keep your sessions polite, private, and pleasant, through proper storage, specialty goods, and easy-to-follow tricks.

Hope this helps! If you’ve got any questions, you can reach out to me here and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!

To your health & (odor-free) happiness,
